Cropper Motors: The dealership that service built
It’s been 60 years since the Cropper family established business roots in Naicam, SK. Today, the name is synonymous with quality service.
“We started as a family business and still operate on that basis,” said Cropper Motors general manager Kevin Cropper who has worked in the company with all three of his brothers – Dennis, Sheldon and Robert. “You can’t come into the dealership and not see a Cropper. We’ve got upwards of 50 employees and they all take on our family ideals – service our customers as best we can and look after them as family would.”
Kevin’s father, Allan, purchased a small Kitchen Motor Machine Agencies building in downtown Naicam in 1963 to set up as a repair shop. At that time, the labour rate was just $2 per hour. Soon Allan got into the automotive industry and became a Ford tractor dealer. In the 1970’s the business started selling RV’s and in 1997 expanded even further to include an larger agricultural and heavy truck shop.
Now Cropper Motors is serving third or fourth generation customers who have come to rely on Cropper’s quality products, extensive knowledge, and experience. They have several long-time staff members; many of whom have been there for 20 plus years.
“During the farming season, we always have mechanics and parts on-call. So, when the farmers are out working, our people are working the same hours.”
