Broncos commit American forward for next season

The Humboldt Broncos are adding some depth up front for their 2023/24 SJHL season, courtesy of an international player.

Sammy Mielock, a 2004-born forward, will join the green and gold later this year, after having completed this season with Forrest Hills Central High School in Ada Township, Michigan, USA.

In just 23 games played, the right-shot player more than proved his worth, dominating every inch of the game and leading his team in every statistical category.

He finished with 31 goals, and 22 assists, good for 53 points.

“Sam is a powerful player who skates extremely well and brings a ton of offensive skill,” said Head Coach and General Manager, Scott Barney.

“That’s the type of player we love wearing a Bronco uniform. He’s had great success this season and will represent the Michigan Seniors at the upcoming CCM High School National Invitational Tournament. We believe Sam has a lot of untapped potential that we feel will be a major benefit to our club next season.”

Mielock, a Michigan native himself, hailing out of Grand Rapids, was named a USHS-MI All-State Division 1 First-Team All-Star this season.

Meanwhile, the Broncos themselves recently wrapped up their season this past Friday, after losing their seven-game semi-final series to the Flin Flon Bombers, 4-1.

“The Humboldt Broncos and the City of Humboldt would like to welcome Sammy and his family to the organization and community,” stated the club in its press release.
