Former SLGA building in Humboldt sells for nearly $400K

A total of seven buildings that previously housed SLGA Retail liquor stores have now been sold.

The Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority has accepted offers for properties in the communities of Esterhazy, La Ronge, Buffalo Narrows, Creighton, Carlyle, Moosomin, and Humboldt, for a combined total of $2,085,000.

The one in Humboldt, which is located at 307 Main Street South, sold for $385,000 to 102058198 Saskatchewan Ltd.

“I am pleased with the level of interest we have seen in these buildings,” SLGA Minister Lori Carr said in a press release sent to northeastNOW. “Selling the properties is another step in the process to wind down SLGA Retail Inc. and the proceeds from the sales will also support important public services across the province.”

102058198 Saskatchewan Ltd.’s main type of business is described as real estate property management services.

Other details are currently unknown, such as the type of business that could be seen in the building.

SLGA previously sold liquor store permits across the province, back in February, however, the identities of the winners aren’t known as the auction only publicly shared the persons’ or groups’ usernames.

The SLGA also stated to northeastNOW that “applicant names for liquor permits are not considered public until a permit is issued, as third-party commercial information is considered private.”

Meanwhile, back in January, the liquor market in Humboldt had a different kind of shake-up, when the local Co-op purchased a Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming ‘Off-Sale’ Retail Store Permit from the Pioneer Hotel in Humboldt, before having their zoning approved by city council to build a stand-alone store.

SLGA Retail Inc. owned 19 of its 34 store properties, while five of the buildings will be repurposed for other government organizations, and the remaining buildings will be sold in the coming weeks.
