Booming housing market

Melfort’s housing market continues to flourish despite inflation

As inflation skyrockets, potential home buyers in Melfort who’ve been waiting for the perfect time to buy could be in for a treat.

Despite grocery and gas bills taking a bigger chunk out of people’s wallets, that isn’t stopping the housing market from flourishing.

“I think we’re at a point where 72 per cent of our listings have sold. Usually, it’s like more of the mid to high 50 to 60 per cent,” said Richelle Rogers, broker and owner of Realty Executives Gateway Realty in Melfort.

She explained that this is great news for sellers as there are buyers in almost every price range.

When it comes to wanting to build your own home from the ground up, that is where those who are wanting to find their dream home are feeling the pressure.

“They still are a little hesitant about building. So they’re staying where they are and then everything else is expensive,” said Rogers.

As for those who are interested in purchasing a home that has been lived in, the market is proving to be bountiful with options that are allowing buyers to purchase their dream homes now.

“Most people, I don’t think they’re hesitant right now,” added Rogers. “They’ve probably been saving for a home for a while if they’re first-time homebuyers.”

Despite saving, Rogers said that it’s important to remember to pick a home that you are able to afford and stick to a budget that you are comfortable with when searching for a property.
