Yang leads Elk Ridge Saskatchewan Open after day one
Gunn Yang from South Korea sat alone at the top of the Elk Ridge Saskatchewan Open after round one on Thursday.
The 2014 US Amateur Champion carded a 7-under (63) in his first tournament with PGA Tour Canada thanks to a hot putter sinking eight birdies to rise to the top of a competitive leaderboard.
The 29-year-old started on the back nine and finished with a 33 before starting the second nine with three straight birdies and finishing with a 30.
“I really got the ball going, especially my back nine,” he said. “It was Nos. 1, 2, and 3, that three birdie stretch, that I took advantage of it and then just kept it going.”
