Resort Village of Tobin Lake issues water ban

Jun 30, 2023 | 4:32 PM

Those looking to water their lawns up at the Resort Village of Tobin Lake this Canada Day long weekend will be unable to do so.

This comes after the resort village issued a municipal order water ban.

This means that anyone found irrigating (watering) their lawn will be subject to having their water turned off for the weekend.

The resident will then need to make an appointment to have it turned back on, with applicable fees (fines).

The ban took effect Friday, with irrigation able to resume on Tuesday (July 4).

northeastNOW reached out to the Resort Village of Tobin Lake, however, a comment was not received back in time for publishing, as to why the ban has been placed into effect.

Multiple comments were made on the resort village’s Facebook page disputing the terms/repercussions of the ban, along with follow-up questions.

Comments included: “Can you do that, how would one flush their toilet or clean themselves? Wouldn’t a fine be more appropriate?”

Another one read “So what if you are a cabin owner and are only there on the weekend? The cabin owners pay the taxes and wages in the village. Maybe they need to think about another water source that can support the village or put a cap on building until they figure out a better water source. There are towns and villages that have building caps because their water source cannot support the growth.”
