Noah Barlage is going to the top of U.S. College Hockey.

The Broncos announced on Thursday that the Humboldt-born defenseman has committed to the University of Alaska-Fairbanks to join the Nanooks Men’s Hockey Program following his fourth year with the Green and Gold. He still has one year left of eligibility in the junior ranks.

“Noah has been a major part of our organization’s success for a number of years now. To see him get recognized for the hard work and dedication he’s put in is a true testament to his character and skills,” said Head Coach and GM, Scott Barney.

In his time with the Broncos, the 20-year-old appeared in 167 regular-season games and had 15 goals and 74 assists while adding a pair of goals and six helpers in 24 playoff contests. In 2021, Barlage finished the season second in defensive scoring with 42 points (8g, 34a) in 58 games played.

“He’s been a consummate professional for as long as he’s been a Bronco, and one of the top defensemen in our league for a while now. We can’t wait to follow his success on and off the ice,” Barney added.

Barlage is the fifth NCAA Division 1 commitment from this past season’s Broncos team and the ninth commitment overall. The four others were USPORTS commitments.

The University of Alaska-Fairbanks Nanooks finished among the top of the NCAA Division 1 Independent schools with a record of 22-10-2 (W-L-T). The Nanooks kick off their season against Vancouver Island University on September 30.
