SIRT investigating in-custody death in Pelican Narrows

A man has died while in custody at the Pelican Narrows RCMP detachment.
On Sunday afternoon, officers responded to a report of a man in medical distress while in custody and initiated life-saving efforts. He was later declared deceased after being taken to hospital.
The Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) will now investigate the RCMP’s interaction with the deceased man and the circumstances of his death.
RCMP said they are disclosing this information as part of their commitment to transparency.
