Northeast business nominated for 2023 Hospitality Saskatchewan Tourism Awards

Hospitality Saskatchewan has announced its nominees for the 2023 Tourism Awards, which includes a northeast business.

Campbell’s Racing Sled Dog Tours, which is based near Pathlow, is competing in the Rookie of the Year category.

“It’s rewarding or satisfying to see that our effort to be hospitable to our guests has been recognized, and there’s been a lot of hard work and sacrifice as it’s a family business,” owner/operator Aaron Campbell told northeastNOW.

“To offer this experience to our province has been a big undertaking, but it’s been really rewarding. We’ve met a lot of nice and interesting people, and it’s a positive environment to be in day in and day out. People are coming, they’re excited, they’ve been encouraging, and it’s great to have this opportunity in the northeast and in Saskatchewan.”

These awards are designed to acknowledge and promote excellence within Saskatchewan’s vibrant tourism industry.

According to Hospitality Saskatchewan, the nominees represent a diverse array of individuals, places, businesses, organizations, and events that have consistently exceeded expectations in delivering exceptional tourism experiences to both visitors and residents.

“We are thrilled to announce the nominees for the 2023 Hospitality Saskatchewan Tourism Awards,” said Jim Bence, President & CEO of Hospitality Saskatchewan.

“These nominees embody the spirit of innovation and dedication that is crucial to fostering growth and success within our province’s tourism industry. As we continue to recover and rebuild, their outstanding contributions remind us of the resilience and creativity that define Saskatchewan’s tourism landscape.”

The Hospitality Saskatchewan Tourism Awards celebrate those who have set new benchmarks in providing unparalleled hospitality, outstanding attractions, and memorable events that showcase the very best the province has to offer.

The awards not only recognize exceptional achievements but are also meant to inspire others to continuously raise the bar in the pursuit of excellence.

Campbell explained that for a relatively new business like he has, it means so much more to help keep them from getting discouraged.

“During the summer it’s a lot of work to operate a kennel with like 40 dogs and a construction business, so it’s encouraging to be recognized and realize that Saskatchewan appreciates our efforts and it is neat to know that we are a legitimate business,” he added.

“This helps get myself and my wife motivated to gear up for another winter with new and fresh ideas, and we’re thankful for the support from Saskatchewan as a whole and the Northeast…Sask tourism has been really helpful.”

The winners of the 2023 Hospitality Saskatchewan Tourism Awards will be announced during the tourism awards dinner held in conjunction with the Gather Again 2023 Conference on Tuesday, Sept. 26th at Prairieland Park Saskatoon.

Campbell mentioned he hopes his wife and their kids can tag along for the ceremony, as they’ve all been instrumental in the success of the business.

“My wife and I are planning to attend the ceremony, and it would be pretty cool to bring my kids because they have been involved a lot with it and it would be cool for them to see this,” he said.

“The businesses brought a lot of hardship, tension, sadness, happiness, and all those things. To have a night where you can relax and soak in the experience and have the realization that this isn’t all for not, we are moving forward, even though some days it seems like we have a long way to go, I think it’d be cool to rub shoulders and just meet more people that are in the same industry.”

The other two nominees in the Rookie of the Year category are CollabARTive Studios and Life Outdoors Gear Exchange/Tours.
