Few spots left available for upcoming Melfort Multi-K

The Melfort Multi-K is almost here with runners and spectators gearing up for the event.

The multiple-race event is set for this Saturday, Sept. 16.

Race Director Allison Rogers told northeastNOW that although most of the races have sold out, there are a few spots left.

“The 1K fun run for kids is entirely free thanks to Castle Building Supply. So 150 kids can participate for free. We have 20 of those spots left. They get a T-shirt, a medal, and a snack.”

The 5K and 10K races have sold out but there is one spot left in the 21.1K race.

This run not only will be fun for racers but also for those with properties along the route.

“We are encouraging everybody who has a home on the route to decorate their lawn. Put up some signs. Have a little bit of fun as it really helps the runners when they get something else to distract them,” said Lyle Bittman, Committee Member.

For those who are participating in the event, three $50 Co-op gift cards will go to the houses that show the most spirit.

As for those looking to help, Bittman said volunteers are needed in order to help out with various duties on race day.

“We can’t do this race without volunteers. We need some people to help us out with course marshalling and a few more people for package pick up and helping out the morning of the event.”

Both Rogers and Bittman extend their appreciation for the community support and all of those volunteering their time to make this event successful.
