Mintos defensemen, head coach each suspended five games to start season
Prince Albert Mintos Head Coach Tim Leonard along with one of their new players, Teigan Semchyshen, have each been suspended for five games to start the 2023-24 season.
The two were punished on Thursday following an off ice incident with the Estevan Great North Bears. According to the league’s website, both were suspended for Semchyshen’s “contested release from Estevan”.
Additionally, Semchyshen is also banned from playing games against Estevan for the rest of the season. The Warman product spent last season with the Bears, potting nine goals and 16 assists in 43 games.
Each will be reinstated on Oct. 9 and will be eligible to participate in Prince Albert’s next game on Oct. 14 against Swift Current.
