Nov 21, 2023 | 10:00 AM

After a seven-point game last weekend, a Melfort Mustang has been named the best of the week in the SJHL.

David Coyle was given the honour on Monday as the league unveiled its Players of the Week.

Coyle had a hat trick and added four assists in the Mustangs’ 8-5 triumph over the Yorkton Terriers last Saturday. He also had two assists earlier this week, bringing his total to nine points in four games. Teammate Ryan Duguay also had a hat trick in the game against Yorkton.

So far this season, Coyle has nine goals and 10 assists as the Mustangs sit with a 13-7-2-0 record, good for second in the Sherwood Division behind the Flin Flon Bombers.

Other winners from the Players of the Week include Justin Lies of the Bombers as Forward of the Week; Alex Izyk of the North Stars as Defenceman of the Week; Keenan Ingram of the Klippers won Rookie of the Week; Harmon Laser-Hume from the Bombers was named Goalie of the Week, and Logan Linklater of the Klippers picked up the Saskatchewan Player of the Week honours.

The Mustangs are at home on Wednesday night as they welcome the Battlefords North Stars with puck drop at 7:30 p.m.
