RCMP make arrests after robberies at Deschambault Lake

Three people are facing charges, including a male youth, following a pair of robberies at Deschambault Lake on Friday.

The first incident happened late in the afternoon and involving a man approaching a pedestrian and robbed them.

Officers immediately responded and while investigating, received a report of a second robbery.

This time, the investigation determined two men assaulted an individual and robbed them.

The suspects were soon after identified and one was arrested in the community later that evening.

Officers located and seized an illegally-modified firearm, a machete and other weapons at the residence, resulting in the arrest of another occupant of the house who was in breach of court-ordered conditions.

A male youth was also arrested at a residence in Deschambault Lake on Sunday.

Keith McCallum, 24, is charged with robbery, robbery with a weapon, and failure to comply with a probation order and release order conditions. He was also arrested on a warrant from Prince Albert Police Service.

The male youth is facing similar charges.

Earl Ballantyne, 30, is charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and failure to comply with a release order condition.

All three accused appeared via phone in La Ronge Provincial Court on Monday.
