Melfort is coming off a weekend sweep of the Notre Dame Hounds, during a home-and-home set, as Logan Belton led the charge offensively.

Overall, the Mustangs played three games, of which they won two, scoring a total of 14 times in the process.

The 19-year-old forward was involved in over 50 per cent of the offence, as he put up four goals and five assists, for nine points.

His best of the three performances was a four-point night on Saturday in Wilcox, which included a goal and three assists.

The Winnipeg, Manitoba product is now up to 11 goals and 13 assists on the season, as he has six times the amount of points he had last year, in the same amount of games played.

Joining Belton as an honouree was Melfort native and Mustangs’ assistant captain, Zac Somers.

The 19-year-old returned to the Stangs lineup on Friday, after missing the club’s previous six contests, but he didn’t miss a beat.

In his first two games back, Somers had multi-point games in both, racking up three helpers on Friday, before adding a goal and an assist on Saturday.

While the centreman has only suited up in 15 of the Blue and Green’s 28 games to this point, he has already eclipsed the 20-point plateau, with 21 so far this season.

The Melfort organization also recently announced their three stars of the past 30 days, during the calendar month of November.

Leading the way and named the first star of the month was North Vancouver, B.C. product, David Coyle.

Coyle was named the SJHL’s MVP of the Week once during the month, posting 17 points in 10 games throughout November.

Meanwhile, it was someone who seems to be going for the first star of the month in December, as recently named SJHL MVP of the Week, Logan Belton, was given the second star of November.

In 10 games, he put up 14 points.

And finally, backup netminder, Kristian Coombs grabbed the third star, as he picked up his first career SJHL win, back on Nov. 25 in Humboldt.

The 2005-born Calgary product has also had a strong start to December, grabbing wins in his team’s first two games of the month (Dec. 1 and 2), against the Notre Dame Hounds.
