The Nipawin Hawks have announced that they have signed Jack Janzen from Martensville to a Letter of Intent to join the SJHL next season.

Janzen, 17, has 11 goals and nine assists in 21 games played this year with the Warman Wildcats of the Saskatchewan U18 AAA Hockey League.

Nipawin Assistant General Manager Dana Dirks said Janzen projects to be a solid SJHL player for three years.

“He’s got a high compete level, skates really well, works hard, and he brings some skill to the table as well, he’s a point-a-game player in U18 AAA,” Dirks said.

The Hawks drafted Janzen with their third-round pick in the 2022 SJHL U15 Draft. When Nipawin chose the five-foot-10’, 160-pound player he was also putting up a point a game in AA U18 with his hometown Marauders before making the jump to AAA last year.

Dirks said Janzen provides all the intangibles the Hawks want in prospects.

“He’s going to be one of those guys that is going to work hard for you up and down the ice whether it’s up the middle or on a wing or whatever it may be, he’s one of those guys that going to give you everything he’s got. When you have guys like that, they are going to end up producing,” Dirks added.

The Hawks have two games left before their Christmas break; Nipawin is in Melfort Friday for a showdown with the Mustangs before the rivals clash again at the ‘Cage’ on Saturday.
