Melfort Trade Alliance Chamber of Commerce opens office

The Melfort Trade Alliance Chamber of Commerce (MTACC) now has an office to call its own.

The chamber has set up shop at 208 Main Street, inside the North Star Law building.

Chamber executive director Cal Gratton told northeastNOW he’s thrilled to have an office in such a great location.

“We’re very excited to… open the doors here and invite everybody in to say hi and if they need to speak to anything about the chamber… make sure to drop by here,” Gratton said.

According to Gratton, finding some office space for the chamber has been one of his main goals. The organization has been without an office since being registered as a chamber in 2021.

“This was sort of a long-term goal that we wanted to set because it’s important for a city of this size to have a chamber office,” Gratton explained. “For people to come in for meetings, to drop things off, and to just have a landing spot for chamber business.”

The chamber itself seems to have been rejuvenated recently, as it now features 108 members. Gratton said they are very excited to see what 2024 has in store.

In just over a month Melfort will see the return of the chamber’s Mel-Bex awards, honouring local businesses and entrepreneurs. Gratton said the response from the business community has been strong with only a handful of tables remaining before it is sold out. You can contact him at the office or by phone for more information.

Nomination ballots are out for businesses, Junior Citizen of the Year, and Citizen of the Year. The Mel-Bex Awards will be handed out March 23 at the CJVR Performing Arts Theatre in the Kerry Vickar Centre.
