Mel-Bex award nominees revealed

The Melfort Trade Alliance Chamber of Commerce’s Mel-Bex Awards continue to take shape.

The organization has announced the nominees for the awards gala, being held at the Kerry Vickar Centre’s CJVR Performing Arts Theatre March 23.

“We had a ton of nominations in during our nomination process,” executive director Cal Gratton told northeastNOW. The chamber’s selection committee will go through the nominees and decide the winner before next month’s gala.

Anyone looking to attend the Mel-Bex Awards Gala should contact Cal, as there are just a handful of tables available. The deadline for tickets is March 15.

The awards haven’t been handed out for several years, and Gratton said the chamber has looked through the archives of past award shows to form the current version.

“We had some information from, I believe, the 2016 or 2017 Mel-Bex Awards, so we took that kind of idea. We’ve actually brought back all of the categories that were awarded that year,” Gratton explained.

The chamber also consulted other local chambers and the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce while getting the Mel-Bex awards together.
