Tisdale Trojans lose game one of playoff series after last-minute goal

Mar 14, 2024 | 10:38 AM

It was a tough loss for the Tisdale Trojans in game one of their Saskatchewan Male AAA Hockey League (SMAAAHL) semi-final playoff series.

The sixth-seeded Trojans dropped a 3-2 decision to the Saskatoon Blazers after a power-play goal with less than 30 seconds remaining in the game.

Tisdale opened the scoring in the first on a goal by Carter Geysen, his first of the postseason. Pryce Thiessen and Eric Han had the helpers.

Saskatoon scored just over 20 seconds later to tie the game.

The Trojans took a 2-1 lead in the second with a Dayton Reschny marker, assisted by Ryder Mucha and Jaxon Kehrig.

Once again, the lead didn’t last long, as the Blazers tied the game just 40 seconds later.

The game stayed tied at 2 until the power-play marker in the final minute.

Game two in the five-game series goes tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. at the RECPlex in Tisdale.
