Equip to Care Campaign

Raising money and awareness: HDHF Equip to Care campaign starts Monday

Mar 15, 2024 | 1:35 PM

The Humboldt District Hospital Foundation Equip to Care campaign begins on Monday.

The 12th annual campaign raises awareness and funds, according to Executive Director Lorrie Bunko.

“It’s a perfect opportunity for us to come out and educate the whole district on the facility, what the current needs are, what services are being offered from the hospital, what kind of future planning is being done,” Bunko told northeastNOW. “This is the time when we get all of that information out, share it, and then we also, of course, fundraise.”

There is an extensive list of equipment needs for the Humboldt District Hospital Foundation. The largest ticket item is a digital x-ray upgrade worth $550,000. Other needs are a pharmacy upgrade, a bariatric bed, 10 inpatient beds, 10 air mattress pumps, three multi-position mobile recliners, two patient armchairs, and an O.R. positioner pad. The total equipment and project upgrades would cost $1,042,000.

Bunko said the need for new equipment and upgrades never goes away.

“We’re committed to our hospital to ensure that it has all the equipment that is required, that’ll benefit patient care and the work of the health care staff,” Bunko explained. “We never want to jeopardize losing a service because of not enough funding.”

This year’s campaign will also feature ‘Power Hours’, a new feature that will see a total of $1400 worth of local gift cards given to donors in a random draw each hour.

The Equip to Care campaign starts Monday, Mar. 18 at 6 a.m. and goes to 5 p.m. every day through Mar. 21.
