
SCMA announces 2024 nominees
The Saskatchewan Country Music Association (SCMA) has announced nominees for the 2024 SCMA Awards in Lloydminster, SK.
Leading the nominations this year is Jake Vaadeland with six in total including ‘Male Artist of the Year’ and ‘Fan’s Choice’. Vaadeland was born in the Big River area. Spiritwood’s Shantaia has five nominations, including ‘Female Artist’ and ‘Country Album of the Year.’ Prince Albert’s Joshua Stumpf is up for ‘Emerging Artist of the Year.’ His debut single ‘Drink me a Lullaby’ hit streaming platforms in September of last year.
Some familiar names to Pattison Media are also on the nomination list. Saskatchewan Country CKBI (900 AM) is nominated for ‘Radio Station of the Year’ in a major market. Nominations for the same award in a secondary market include FM Country CJVR (105.1 FM) in Melfort and Pattison Media’s country station in North Battleford – Saskatchewan Country CJNB (1050 AM). On-air personality Matt Ryan also has two nominations including one for ‘Country Music Person of the Year.’
The 35th annual SCMA Awards show is set to take place on Saturday, June 22 in Lloydminster at the Vic Juba Community Theatre and is presented by Access Communications Co-operative. This marks the first time the awards will be hosted in Canada’s only border city.
