A silver finish for Team Sask. men at National Aboriginal Hockey Championships

Team Saskatchewan is coming home with one medal from the National Aboriginal Hockey Championships in Alberta.

The men’s team faced Ontario in the gold medal game on Saturday but fell 4-0, to settle for silver.

The team made it to the final after a nail-biting 4-3 win over B.C. in the semi-finals.

Konnor Watson, Conner Bear, Shaden Duliak, and Raiden Zacharias scored for Saskatchewan with Watson, Zacharias, and Owen Nelson collecting the assists.

On the women’s side, Team Saskatchewan finished in fifth place after winning the relegation round with a 5-1 victory over Team Atlantic.

Prince Albert’s Sasha Malenfant led the way with two goals and an assist while Kelsey Ledoux, Kaylee Williams, and Abigail Fehr scored the other goals.

Team Ontario won gold in the women’s division with a 3-0 win over Alberta.

Over the weekend, it was announced that Kamloops, the traditional territory of the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc, would host the 2025 National Aboriginal Hockey Championships.
