Waterhen School burns in fire started in industrial arts shop

The Waterhen First Nation, about 40 kilometres north of Meadow Lake, looks to have lost its school in a fire on Tuesday afternoon.
The First Nation said on social media that the fire started in the roof of the Industrial Arts/Shop portion of the building.
Students and staff were safely evacuated and Meadow Lake Fire Department is on site providing help.
“The school has been a long standing building in the community and has many memories amongst our community members who attended. It’s a sad day for the community,” said the First Nation in a post.
