Nipawin Exhibition quickly approaching

Jul 10, 2024 | 4:16 PM

Summer in northeast Saskatchewan is in full swing, and exhibition season is quickly approaching.

Nipawin’s fair will be held July 15, 16, and 17.

The Nipawin Exhibition Association’s interim president Debra Lacheur told CJVR’s Gabby there is a slight change in this year’s midway.

“It’s still R.F. Hauser Shows with West Coast Amusements but it’s a different branch and they have not been here before,” explained Lacheur.

She said the midway is going back to the old way of doing things with no fast passes, and cash to be used on the midway.

“They’re not going cashless this year so everybody should keep that in mind because (cashless) wasn’t a big hit last year.”

There is also a $1000 Pot-of-Gold draw on Monday, July 15. Lacheur said anyone who purchases an adult three-day wrist band will get into the exhibition every day, and also be entered in the Pot-of-Gold draw each day as well.

“The reason it’s $1000 on Monday is because we had two carryovers last year, people didn’t claim it,” Lacheur. The draws will be $250 on Tuesday, and $500 on Wednesday, provided there are no more carryovers.

The exhibition will also feature beef shows, light and heavy horse shows, barrel racing, entertainment, food trucks, and much more.

There are several options for gate passes and ride coupons, and the Nipawin Exhibition Parade will kick things off Sunday, July 14 at 3 p.m.
