Investigation into fatal hit-and-run on Red Earth Cree Nation continues

Residents of Red Earth Cree Nation may notice a larger-than-normal police presence in the community this week.

Police officers with the Prince Albert General Investigation Section (GIS) will be at Red Earth to continue the investigation into the death of 31-year-old Ericson Bear.

Carrot River RCMP were called about an injured man on Highway 163 on Red Earth Cree Nation on Feb. 12.

The investigation revealed the man was hit by a vehicle, which left the scene.

The man died at the scene, and police say they released Bear’s name to help further the investigation.
