Melfort Mustangs on Players of the Week list; team ranked #7 in Canada

Two Melfort Mustangs are SJHL Players of the Week.

Nicholas Andrusiak was named the SuperU Defenceman of the Week.

The WHL veteran has two goals and four assists in Melfort’s first four games of the season.

The Mustangs’ Kristian Coombs is the SaskTel Goalie of the Week.

Coombs has won each of his first three starts of the season, with a 1.65 goals against average, .and 946 save percentage as he fills the large skates of last season’s starter, James Venne.

Carrot River’s Caden Drury was named the Canterra Seeds Saskatchewan Player of the Week after a torrid start with the Melville Millionaires.

Drury has four goals and eight assists in just four games.

Meanwhile, Melfort’s strong 4-0 start to the season has left them in seventh place in the Canadian Junior Hockey League rankings.

The Mustangs swept a southern road swing this past weekend, with a pair of 2-1 wins over Estevan and Weyburn.

Yorkton is ranked number three in the nation, with Melville at six.

The Rockville Nationals of the CCHL are ranked number one in the nation after a 6-0 start.
