Mustangs win streak hits three; Hawks lose twice on weekend
The Melfort Mustangs are on a three-game winning streak after a 6-2 victory over the Hawks Saturday in Nipawin.
Melfort stormed out to a 3-0 lead after one period with goals from Ty Thornton, Danton Cox, and Kaleb Binner.
Nipawin responded in the second with Jack Drake’s first goal of the season, but the Mustangs restored their three-goal lead on a tally by Nolan Roberts.
Thornton scored his second of the game on the powerplay early in the third, while Nipawin’s Konnor Watson and Melfort’s Austin Shepherd closed out the scoring.
