Mustangs shut out North Stars, extend win streak to four

The Melfort Mustangs have now won four games in a row after a 4-0 victory over the Battlefords North Stars at the Northern Lights Palace on Tuesday night.

Netminder Kristian Coombs made 32 saves between the pipes for Melfort, notching his first shutout of the season. The win not only marked their fourth in a row, but also boosted the Mustangs into first overall in league standings where they now sit with a 9-2-0-0 (W-L-OTL-SOL) record.

Melfort had four different goal scorers in the win, with Nolan Patterson getting the ‘Stangs on the board in the first, Zayden Sadlemyer adding to the lead in the second, and both Logan Belton and Bo Eisner tickling twine in the third. Reilley Kotai led the assist department with two, and Austin Shepherd, Nolan Roberts, Mathieu Pigeon, and Ashton Hutchinson each had one.

In the other goal, Justen Maric made 22 stops for the North Stars as Battlefords falls to 6-4-1-0 on the year.
