Mustangs seeking to improve on league-best record on southern swing

The Melfort Mustangs look to continue their winning ways as they travel south for a two-game swing.

The Mustangs have won four in a row and are coming off a 4-0 win at home over the Battlefords North Stars on Tuesday.

Kristian Coombs made 32 saves in the win, as Melfort improved their record to 9-2 on the season.

Defense and goaltending have been a big reason for their four-game streak, as Melfort has only allowed four goals in that span.

The Mustangs lead the league in wins, and in points with 18.

Melfort will start their road trip Friday night in Estevan against the 4-3-1 Bruins.

The Mustangs beat the Bruins in Estevan 2-1 in September.

On Saturday night, Melfort will take on Weyburn.

The Mustangs edged the Red Wings 2-1 on that same September road trip.

Both Estevan and Weyburn come into the games on hot streaks of their own.

The Bruins are 4-0-1-1 in their last six, while the Red Wings are 7-0-1 in their last eight.
