Some classes, bus routes cancelled Monday following weekend snowstorm

Nov 25, 2024 | 10:20 AM

Schools across Northeast and Central Saskatchewan are closing their doors on Monday following this past weekend’s snowstorm.

School divisions began issuing notices of cancelled classes and bus routes on Sunday afternoon, with more announcements and cancellations expected by Monday morning.

As of 6 p.m. Sunday, Catholic schools in Biggar and Humboldt are cancelled along with schools in Warman and Martensville, according to an announcement from Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools (GSCS).

“This decision was made collaboratively and in discussion with the City of Saskatoon and our partners in emergency services. Challenges have been identified for safely operating school and transit buses. Cancelling classes helps ensure the safety of students and staff members, while supporting the efforts to clear roadways,” GSCS said in a release.

Classes at Bernard Constant Community School on James Smith Cree Nation are also cancelled for the day.

Additionally, all bus routes for the Prince Albert Catholic School Division and the Saskatchewan Rivers School Division have been cancelled due to the significant snowfall. Classes are still on.

More information will be added as it becomes available.
