Weekend wins push Trojans winning streak to six

The Tisdale Trojans are red hot.

They have now won six games in a row after a weekend road sweep of the Battlefords Stars.

Tisdale started their weekend with a 5-4 overtime win on Saturday.

Eric Han, Blake Girard, and Carter Geysen scored to spot Tisdale to a 3-0 lead in the first period, with a late Battlefords goal making it 3-1 after one.

The Stars scored in the second and early in the third to tie the game at 3, but Kash Elke’s first of the season gave Tisdale a 4-3 lead. Battlefords scored with just over five minutes left to tie the game at 4.

Blake Girard netted the overtime winner for Tisdale with just over three minutes left in overtime.

Wyatt Fleishhacker made 25 saves in the win.

Tisdale followed that up with a 4-1 win in Battlefords on Sunday.

Carter Geysen and Eric Han scored in the first and second periods respectively as Tisdale opened with a 2-0 lead after two.

A Battlefords power-play goal early in the third cut the lead to 2-1, but Eric Han and Jacob Tait netted goals for the Trojans to close out the scoring.

Jackson Dunn earned the win in net, saving 31 of 32 shots.

The Trojans improved to 8-5-5 on the season, and they are now in fifth place in the Saskatchewan Male AAA Hockey League.

Tisdale is back in action Saturday and Sunday as they host the Estevan Great North Bears.
