School bus driver charged with impaired driving in Northern Sask.
A Northern Saskatchewan school bus driver is behind bars after being caught driving drunk while on the job.
The incident happened on Nov. 19 at around 3:45 p.m. when Buffalo River Dene Nation security officers and school employees saw the school bus driver showing signs of impairment.
They attempted to stop the man from entering the bus, however, he managed to get behind the wheel and drive off with around 50 children inside.
Officers managed to locate the bus a short time later. No children were found on the bus, as investigation determined they had already been dropped off along the bus’s route. When police then turned their attention to the driver, they also noticed signs of impairment and arrested him.
