Melfort Twinkle Tour to light up city on Thursday

Dec 15, 2024 | 8:00 AM

A sure sign of the Christmas season!

The City of Melfort’s Twinkle Tour is coming up on Thursday.

Recreation and Aquatics Manager Shannon Marshall said the event has been taking place in Melfort since 2020.

“Almost 80 homes have registered to be part of this year’s tour,” Marshall told northeastNOW.

The tour will start at 6 pm Thursday at the Kerry Vickar Centre. Hot chocolate to go will be available at the KVC, along with a Twinkle Tour map. Marshall said they’re also working on a lights scavenger hunt and bingo sheets for the kids that can also be picked up at the KVC.

Last year they served over 500 cups of hot chocolate, and Marshall would like to eclipse that this year.

“There will also be three random draws for $100 gift certificates,” Marshall said. “There will be the popular People’s Choice Award – people can text in their favourite house. That house will win too.”

The draws for the $100 gift certificates are done at random, and Marshall encourages anyone to enter their address.

Marshall said the Twinkle Tour is one more way for people in the Melfort area to enjoy the holiday season.

“It’s a great way to recognize the great holiday spirit our community has,” said Marshall. “There’s a lot going on, like the Christmas Village at the Melfort Museum, the Christmas Castle at the Historic Post Office, and the campground light tour.”

Marshall said they’re always thinking about ways to improve the Twinkle Tour.

“I would love to see some fun things next year like best decorated neighbourhood.”

You can still register your home by emailing pool@melfort.ca.
