Kelvington-Wadena MLA Beaudry excited to continue role into 2025

The MLA for Kelvington-Wadena has dipped his toes in the water as a first-time representative.

Chris Beaudry recently spent his first two weeks in the Legislature during the brief fall sitting.

Beaudry told northeastNOW his previous ideas of what it would be like as an MLA were quickly changed when he reached Regina.

“It was nothing that I originally thought it would be, but it didn’t take long for me to find a routine, start to figure out how to help the people of Kelvington-Wadena, how to do case work,” Beaudry explained. “Once I found that out, things started to progress quite well.”

The rookie MLA will be in Regina often through the winter before the spring session of the Legislature begins. Beaudry said he is spending time studying private member bills – both provincial and federal – to see if there are ways he can improve the lives of people in the constituency.

Beaudry said one of the major issues for people across the province is affordability. There are other topics that remain front-of-mind for Beaudry.

“For myself, mental health and addictions (are) at the forefront. I’ve been speaking on it for almost seven years now and I think there’s some great work being done, but there’s always room for growth in anything we do.”

Getting out to meet people in the community is a major goal for Beaudry, by going out to snowmobile rallies, curling events, market days, hockey games, and other events. He said if he’s not seeing people, he’s not hearing their concerns and desires.

Beaudry’s MLA office will be opening soon in Wynyard.
