A local restaurant has received recognition by a national organization.

Nipawin Venice House has won the Canadian Choice Award in the Family Restaurant category.

“Very humbled. I was very happy, excited, just a loss of words that I got the award,” owner Taso Gliatis told northeastNOW.

Gliatis said the restaurant is family-oriented and is accommodating for everybody, and that is part of what makes them successful.

“To all my patrons, we thank you for your unwavering support these past few years. But most of all, to my staff, we would not have come this far if it wasn’t for all your hard work,” Gliatis commented on his social media page.

Nipawin Venice House has been around since 1981 and Gliatis said they try to keep the menu as accommodating as possible for people on a budget and those who like variety.

According to the Candian Choice Award website, their goal is to honour businesses that make a difference.

“Each year, we shine a spotlight on the small and medium-sized businesses that power our nation’s economy, drive new ideas, and improve our communities,” said the site. “Our goal is to recognize and support these businesses, ensuring they get the credit they deserve.”
