Tisdale council meeting

Tisdale looking to amend bylaw to allow for temporary work camps

Jan 17, 2025 | 3:00 PM

The Town of Tisdale is looking at amending a zoning bylaw to allow for temporary work camps.

At the council meeting on Monday, the town instructed CAO Lovely Magnaye to create a bylaw “to amend the Town of Tisdale’s Zoning Bylaw to allow temporary work camps in the Industrial District as a discretionary use.”

Magnaye told northeastNOW that the current bylaw prohibits work camps.

The Town asked her to create the bylaw “in preparation for future growth in case we need it.”

Council also authorized Magnaye to sign the Employment Program Agreement with the Ministry of Immigration and Career Training for the Northeast Newcomers Services for this year.

The town also renewed the HVAC and Refrigeration Maintenance contract with Ainsworth for a three-year term through 2027 with a cost of $18,232 plus taxes per year.

Council also instructed the CAO to send a letter to SaskPower in support of the upkeep of the Tisdale Legacy Project.

The next council meeting is Jan. 27.
