A Humboldt man is facing several charges after an arrest earlier this week.

The Saskatchewan RCMP’s Prince Albert Crime Reduction Team (CRT), Warrant Enforcement and Suppression Team (WEST), and Humboldt RCMP seized nearly two kilograms of drugs and 35,000 illegal cigarettes after executing a search warrant at a home northeast of Humboldt on Feb. 4 as part of an ongoing investigation.

Police seized 1000 grams of meth, 801 grams of cocaine, 35,000 illegal smokes, four firearms, ammunition, bear spray, and additional drug trafficking paraphernalia.

Then, Prince Albert RCMP WEST officers arrested a man and woman during a traffic stop near the home a short time later and seized just over $42,000 in cash, a small amount of crack cocaine, and more evidence of drug trafficking.

The woman was released without charges, while the man, 59-year-old Gaetan Carrier of Humboldt, is charged with one count each of possession for the purpose of trafficking meth and cocaine, and one count of possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000.

He will make his first court appearance in Humboldt Provincial Court on March 24.

Police say the investigation continues, and more charges are anticipated.
