Feb 18, 2025 | 1:47 PM

Three men are facing multiple charges after a police pursuit involving a stolen vehicle and a firearm incident that began in North Battleford and ended on Red Pheasant First Nation.

Last Friday, around 10:45 p.m., Battlefords RCMP responded to a report of shots fired from a vehicle in the city. No one was hurt.

Officers found the suspect vehicle in a parking lot on 99th Street, but the driver took off. Police turned on their emergency lights and chased the car south through Battleford toward Red Pheasant First Nation. They used a tire deflation device, but the vehicle kept going.

RCMP police dog services and the Saskatoon Police Service joined the search.

Around 12:30 a.m., officers found the vehicle stuck in a ditch on Red Pheasant First Nation. They arrested one man at the scene and found a firearm and a magazine nearby. Police also confirmed the vehicle had been stolen earlier that night.

A short time later, police learned the other two suspects were at a home on Red Pheasant. Officers went to the house and arrested them.

After further investigation, a 21-year-old man from Sweetgrass First Nation is charged with eight offences, including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, theft of a vehicle, and discharging a firearm while being reckless.

The second suspect, an 18-year-old man who is also from Sweetgrass First Nation, faces 10 charges, including flight from a peace officer, possession of a firearm knowing its possession was unauthorized, and failing to comply with a release order.

The last suspect, a 23-year-old man from Red Pheasant First Nation, is charged with 10 offences, including discharging a firearm with intent, unauthorized possession of a gun, and failing to comply with probation orders.

The three accused appeared in North Battleford provincial court on Feb. 18.
