Update: The manhunt is over for the suspect wanted in relation to a trio of stabbings on Big River First Nation

Ryan Lachance was arrested at a home on the First Nation Wednesday evening.

He is facing several charges including aggravated assault, robbery and break and enter.

Lachance is scheduled to appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court on today, Feb. 20

The second person charged after multiple stabbing related incidents at Big River First Nation, was also one of the three victims.

This information was released by RCMP late Tuesday afternoon.

Jacky Lachance, 25, appeared earlier in the day at Prince Albert Provincial Court and in relation to the incidents that occurred on Feb. 15, is facing two counts of aggravated assault, as well as robbery with a weapon and break-and-enter.

According to the timeline of events released by RCMP on Sunday, the series of violent incidents started around 3:50 p.m. RCMP received a report of a stabbing on the First Nation and determined an altercation had occurred between a man and woman. The woman was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

About ten minutes later, police were notified of another stabbing that occurred at a second residence on Big River First Nation. The investigation determined a group of people entered the home and stabbed a man who was taken to hospital. His injuries were also described as non-life threatening.

Then, at about 4:20 p.m., officers responded to a third stabbing at a different location on the First Nation. That victim was transported by STARS to hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Once released from hospital, Lachance, who is from Big River First Nation, was arrested.

Also charged is 29-year-old Ryan Lachance, who remains on the run.

In addition to his alleged involvement in the weekend stabbings, Ryan has also been charged for failing to attend court. This has to do with a missed court date earlier in February. He is also wanted on warrant from Big River RCMP in relation to an unrelated aggravated assault that occurred in November 2024.

“If you see Ryan Lachance, do not approach him. He is considered armed and dangerous.Ryan Lachance may be in a stolen black KIA Optima with Saskatchewan license plate 649 NPP. This is not confirmed and Ryan’s whereabouts are currently unknown,” RCMP said.
