A local non-profit is $10,000 richer, thanks to the 100 Women Who Care in Melfort.

The Melfort chapter held their quarterly meeting at the Melfort Golf and Country Club Monday night.

Three organizations made presentations to the 100 Women Who Care, and it was decided that the North East SPCA would receive the $10,000.

Organizer Richelle Rogers told northeastNOW the SPCA’s presentation was excellent.

Pat Rumberger of the SPCA outlined her experience adopting from the Harry and Eve Vickar Shelter and there were other testimonials from people who adopted animals.

“I think they’re a very visible that is always fundraising,” said Rogers. “This money is earmarked for dog runs for outside the [shelter] so that they can have some more room to move.”

The next 100 Women Who Care meeting will take place in early June. Rogers said they currently have their 100 women that give $100 each during the quarterly meetings, but if anyone is interested in being put on the waitlist, they can contact her.
