Trojans face elimination in AAA playoffs after Game 2 OT loss to Blazers

Mar 6, 2025 | 9:37 AM

A barn burner in Tisdale Wednesday night.

The Tisdale Trojans and the Saskatoon Blazers went the distance at the Tisdale Recplex, with the Blazers taking Game 2 in overtime 6-5.

Saskatoon led 4-0 entering the third before Corban Almen added another early in the frame to make it 5-0 Blazers.

With less than 7:17 to play, the Trojans showed signs of life when Parker Salisbury got Tisdale on the board. That opened the floodgates for the Trojans as Saskatoon began to collapse.

Around 90 seconds later, Carter Corbett scored shorthanded before Carter Geysen got in on the fun, making it 5-3 with 3:10 to play.

Then, some late-minute penalty trouble proved costly for Saskatoon as Geysen cashed in on the man advantage making it a one-goal game.

The Trojans kept pushing and eventually prevailed, with Preston Hoppe scoring the equalizer with just 10 seconds remaining to force overtime.

There, Tisdale’s comeback hopes came to an end as Saskatoon’s Ethan Hamilton defused the threat, scoring the OT winner at the 11:23 mark.

Following Game 2, the Trojans now have their backs against the wall as they look to stave off elimination in Game 3 on Friday night. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. at the SaskTel Centre.
