“By replacing ‘Hospital’ with ‘Health’ in our name, we are better reflecting the full range of services supported by our foundation, while aligning with the name of the facility—Humboldt District Health Complex,” Aaron Behiel, Chair of the Humboldt District Health Foundation Board, said in a news release.

The release said the Foundation’s focus had been primarily on hospital-related surgeries, such as emergency and acute care, surgical services, lab, pharmacy, medical imaging, and Environmental Services.

But as the years have passed, the Foundation’s mandate has changed and grown, to include support for things like home care, therapies, mental health and addictions, and public health.

The new name reflects the expansion of the Foundation’s support, “which play(s) an essential role in the well-being of patients and clients in the community.”

“The updated brand now better reflects the broad scope of health care services supported by the foundation,” the release stated.

The Humboldt District Health Foundation was founded in 1986, and the organization launched their Equip to Care campaign today.

The campaign looks to raise money to purchase $1 million worth of priority equipment, including a pharmacy room upgrade.
