Equip to Care Campaign

Over $190,000 raised in HDHF Equip to Care campaign

The Humboldt District Health Foundation’s Equip to Care campaign was a huge success.

The 13th annual campaign raised $192,303.90 which will be used to purchase desperately needed equipment for the Humboldt District Health Complex.

Foundation Executive Director Lorrie Bunko was thrilled with the response to the campaign.

“It’s very rewarding for our health care facility to raise this much money and to make that big of an impact,” Bunko told northeastNOW.

Bunko said what’s even more important was hearing the stories from health professionals and users of the health complex and connecting with the people.

“Getting feedback about services offered and just ideas of moving forward into the future of healthcare,” said Bunko.

The health complex is a very busy facility, Bunko added, including emergency services and the Community Oncology Program of Saskatchewan (COPS). Use of those programs and the facility as a whole is increasing, according to Bunko, and fundraisers like these are crucial to purchasing and improving equipment.

The Humboldt District Health Foundation will look through the money raised during the campaign at their next board meeting and will narrow down how that money will be spent. Bunko said the board will look at the priority needs list and determine how to earmark the raised funds.

“We had some other things…come up [this week] that are ‘priority critical’ needs,” said Bunko.

She thanked the volunteers that helped during the four-day campaign and who help throughout the year, those that donated to the campaign, and all local media for their efforts in assisting the foundation in their fundraising efforts.
