Armed robbery near Meacham leads to arrest

Apr 3, 2025 | 1:46 PM

A man is facing several charges after a carjacking and armed robbery near Meacham.

Humboldt RCMP were called about the armed robbery on April 1 along Highway 5, just west of the Highway 5 and 2 junction.

Officers determined a man in a truck was pulled over on the side of Highway 5 when another man approached his vehicle. The suspect assaulted the man in the truck with a weapon and stole his vehicle. It was determined that the vehicle the suspect was initially driving was stolen in Saskatoon.

The victim reported non-life-threatening injuries.

Police were then called about a robbery at a business near the junction of Highway 16 and 2. The suspect left in a truck heading south on Highway 2, and the truck was later spotted north of Watrous.

The vehicle sped away and later quickly reversed, narrowly missing hitting police vehicles several times. The truck also swerved to avoid spike strips, eventually coming to a stop.

RCMP say the suspect resisted arrest and was taken into custody after officers used a stun gun.

A 30-year-old man from Keeseekoose First Nation faces multiple charges, including robbery with a weapon, assault with a weapon, and flight from police.

Assisting in the investigation were Wakaw, Humboldt, Watrous, Southey, and Craik RCMP, along with Prince Albert RCMP and Regina Police Service Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan.
