Long weekend outlook

Cool start to Easter weekend, but warmer weather is on the way

The long weekend is entering on a chilly note.

Temperatures over the next couple of days will remain below normal, and we could continue to see some light snow or rain with it.

Stephen Berg of Environment and Climate Change Canada said the North Battleford, Prince Albert, and northeast areas should all be in the low-to-mid single digits on Thursday and Good Friday.

“Highs in the 3 C to 4 C range, looking to be anywhere from about 5 C to 8 C below normal for the time of year,” explained Berg.

The overnight low will dip down to –9 C to –11 C, which is 10 C below what we’d normally see.

Berg said there is a chance of showers or flurries for the remainder of the day before it clears off Friday afternoon. He added there shouldn’t be too much in the way of precipitation, and if there is any snow accumulation, it won’t last long as the weather improves as Saturday arrives.

“We get that warm front coming through with temperatures spiking up into the low-to-mid teens for Saturday, and into the double-digits Sunday as well.”

Conditions will clear off for Saturday as well, making for a pleasant day. However, Berg said they should become more mixed as clouds move in later in the weekend into early next week.

Monday and Tuesday could feature slightly lower-than-normal temperatures, and Berg said things should bounce back to normal toward the middle and end of the week. We could see more precipitation on Tuesday, but Berg said otherwise it should be fairly dry for most of the rest of next week.
