Adekugbe eager for return as Vancouver Whitecaps look to continue hot start
VANCOUVER — Sam Adekugbe has spent the last six weeks rooting for the Vancouver Whitecaps as the club surges up the Major League Soccer standings.
What the left back really wants, though, is to get back on the field.
“(Ryan Gauld) and I were talking the other day — we feel like cheerleaders. And we’re just eager to be a part of it,” Adekugbe said Thursday. “When things are going well, you want to be a part of it, and you want to enjoy the moments when they’re high. And we’re working hard to get back there.”
Adekugbe hasn’t played since March 2 when he suffered a quad injury in the first half of Vancouver’s 2-1 victory over the L.A. Galaxy.
