Missing and Murdered Indigenous Walk in Melfort postponed

The third annual Missing and Murdered Indigenous Walk in Melfort has been postponed.

The event will be rescheduled for later this month, though no new date has been announced. That announcement is expected next week.

A post on the Marguerite Riel Centre’s social media page indicates that some staff will be attending a funeral, and others have been asked to support Elders at an event in Saskatoon.

“This would leave us short-staffed and unable to meet the needs of some who may have been attending the walk,” the post read.

“We want to be able to deliver an event that we can properly provide support, information, and a place to remember those missing or murdered.”
