Nipawin man arrested after using paintball gun in break and enter, flight from police

May 9, 2025 | 6:42 PM

A 31-year-old Nipawin man was arrested Thursday evening after a series of incidents in the community that started just before 7 pm.

RCMP officers were called to a break and enter at a home and learned that an unknown man, armed with what was described a gun, entered the home and was confronted by a woman inside.

After exchanging words, the man fled the residence, and no harm came to the woman.

Officers searched the area but could not find the suspect immediately, so they continued patrols of the area.

About 20 minutes later, they received a report of a stolen vehicle in Nipawin and found the vehicle in a residential area.

They used emergency equipment to pull the driver over but instead, he fled.

Shortly afterwards, they found the stolen vehicle on 8th Street West. When the vehicle stopped, the male occupant got out and pointed what looked to be a gun at the responding officers.

He got out of the vehicle and again attempted to run on foot but was arrested by officers at the scene. The incident was caught and shared on social media.

The man was arrested after running from RCMP.

Police seized a paintball gun and Jewels Budd is now facing multiple charges including break and enter, theft of a truck, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, two weapons charges and three counts of resisting arrest.

He will appear in Nipawin Provincial Court on May 12.
