MAD’s Waldbillig wins director award from TheatreOne 2025

A Melfort woman has won an award stemming from the extremely successful TheatreOne 2025 held in the city.

The event featured performances from seven different theatre companies from across the province.

Michelle Waldbillig of Melfort Amateur Dramatics (MAD) was awarded the Florence Eberle Memorial Trophy for Best Director for MAD’s production of “Box” by Morgan Glau, Cameron Freitas, Hannah Jackson, and Trevor Buttery.

The Jacqui and Morris Shumiatcher Trophy for Winning Entry was given to Last Mountain Theatre Company with ‘I Dream Before I Take the Stand” by Arlene Hutton.

Taking the George Barnett Trophy for Runner-up to the winning entry was the Cochin Community Players for “A Man Walks into a Bar” by Rachel Blair.

Pat Wyand with Regina Little Theatre also won the Janet Lowndes Trophy for Acting for playing Jessie in “Scent of Honeysuckle.”

Clint Barrett with Cochin Community Players received the Nancy and Sam Goodfellow Award for Acting for his portrayal of Man/Steve in “A Man Walks into a Bar”.

Last Mountain Theatre Company Award for Performance in a Supporting Role went to Tiffini McBee with Castwell & Company, playing the role of Mary in Ian McWethy’s “I, Chorus.”

Regina Little Theatre won the Kathleen E. Nouch CDA Trophy for Technical/Backstage for their production of “Scent of Honeysuckle” by Jean Lennox Toddie.

TheatreOne 2025 was held April 24 to 26 at the Kerry Vickar Centre in Melfort.
