Manslaughter charge laid after death of child on Shoal Lake Cree Nation

A manslaughter charge has been laid against a Shoal Lake Cree Nation man after the death of a child under the age of 10 on Friday.
23-year-old Karrena Young has been charged with one count of manslaughter, and she is scheduled to appear in court via video on Monday.
Officers were called to a home on Shoal Lake Cree Nation after reports of a child being seriously injured.
Carrot River RCMP found an unresponsive child at the home, and despite life-saving efforts the child was declared dead at the scene.
