The Town of Creighton has updated residents about the fire situation near the community.

The town has posted on social media that the Club Fire is located northwest of Creighton, and the wind is pushing it away from the community today.

“Our fire crew were on it last night and will be working on it again today,” the update read.

Fire crews, along with water bombers and provincial safety agencies, are working on the blaze.

“We are asking residents to keep roads clear for emergency crews,” said the statement. “Please be very mindful of provincial fire bans, rules, and regulations.”

The Creighton landfill is closed for the remainder of Tuesday to keep the roads clear for firefighters in the area.

The fire is listed as not contained by the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA).

The Town also indicated that any drone activity in the area will ground air support of the fire, and drones will be shot down.

There are 20 active fires across the province, half of which are not contained.

The SPSA reports that there have been 203 wildfires to date in Saskatchewan this year.
